Case StudiesReviewing a renewalCommercial real estate
Why a 32-employee company stayed with its PEO after a 25% renewal increase
A North Carolina commercial real estate firm’s medical renewal came in 25% higher. We quoted three other PEOs: one matched the price with slightly less rich health plans, two came in 20% higher. A year later we ran the check again. Both times, the client stayed.

Problem
This company has been our client for five years. We placed it with its first PEO, and two years later we moved it to a second, mainly because the first PEO’s medical carrier didn’t have the stronger network in North Carolina. The second PEO, a larger and long-established one, met its HR needs better and offered the medical coverage that suited it best.
The client was happy there, and for two years it renewed without a review. Then its 2025 medical renewal came in 25% higher, after a year of heavy use of its health plan. The service wasn’t in question, only the price: could another PEO offer lower medical premiums?
Solution
We asked three PEOs that fit the client for quotes and compared their medical premiums, side by side, with the renewal from its current PEO.
One PEO matched the renewal, but with slightly less rich health plans. The other two came in 20% higher. We went through the full analysis with the client, and it chose to stay with its PEO.

Result
The client stayed with a PEO it was already happy with, and it now knew that three other PEOs couldn’t beat its medical renewal.
Its employees kept the same PEO and the same HR support, with nothing to re-enroll or set up.
What the client weighedExhibit 03 · The Huldisch Group Stay with the current PEO?
- Medical premiumsSame price as the best quote; the other two were 20% higher
- HR serviceNo issues since the switch, and the client was always satisfied
- Health plansSlightly richer than the plans in the one quote that matched the price
Decision
StayMoving would have meant less rich health plans at the same price, or paying 20% more.
Same answer in 2026, after a second review.
After year one
A year later, the 2026 renewal came around. Again we compared the client’s medical renewal with three other PEOs, in circumstances much like the year before. The outcome was the same, and since the client was happy with its PEO’s service, staying was an easy decision.
We’ll review this client’s renewal as often as it wants. A client that’s happy with its PEO doesn’t have to review at all. If this one wants the analysis again next year, we’ll run it.
